What to bring
At The Waterfall Lodge, we strive to provide our guests with just about everything needed during your stay in hopes to make our home, feel like your home. However, there will be a few things you’ll need to bring with you. Below is a list of things you’ll want to remember to pack and places to get them if you forget:
Food and Drinks- (take a trip down to Alamogordo and stock up at Albertson’s market or Lowes Supermarket. The Cloudcroft Village dollar general has many of your basic needs, and Burro street is home to some Beautiful local shops to provide you with local goodies. Alcohol can be purchased at the western bar in Cloudcroft or at grocery stores in Alamogordo.
Flashlights- It gets dark out here! (High Altitude in Cloudcroft is a great place to shop for all your outdoor mountain needs)
4 WHEEL DRIVE/SNOW CHAINS FOR TIRES- If you are not familiar with driving in curvy, snowy mountains and are visiting during the winter, it would be wise to get your tires checked and bring an appropriate vehicle with 4x4, all-wheel drive.
Rain Coat and/or extra jacket- Even during our warm summer months, unexpected and cold rainstorms can put you in need of some extra coverage, and nights are surprisingly chilly. (High Altitude in Cloudcroft)
BINOCULARS- There’s a lot to see out there and you’ll want to get a closer look.
Fishing Gear- some basic poles and bait are provided.
BBQ gear- Coal/wood, lighter fluid, Matches (BBQ pit is provided)
Extra Towels- Towels provided by The Waterfall Lodge are not for outdoor use. (Walmart in Alamogordo)
Kids needs- If you are bringing small children and don’t want them using adult-sized kitchen utensils, glasses, and dinnerware, that will be something you would make sure to bring along with you. A few small plastic cups/items may be provided.
A Good Book- Trust us.
